HSS3018   Popular Music in the Hispanic World   (20 credits)

Description

This is a 20-credit module which examines major movements in Latin American and Iberian music from the late nineteenth century onwards. The module will analyse several musical movements throughout the Hispanic world and their links to socio-political and cultural contexts as well as their impact on Western culture. The module also includes the organisation of a concert at the end of Semester 2 and the production of a CD of music studied on the module. Lectures and seminars are taught in English.
